Inktober is a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it. This is my second year to take the challenge. This year I decided to start by doing a series of portraits of children. Today’s child is a solemn little girl with a completely calm expression. My drawing does not catch the expression as well as I could wish, but I already see an improvement in my work. If I don’t get tired of faces and switch themes, I will draw 30 portraits. Hopefully I will be getting better at it!

Temari Ball
The Japanese have been making Temaris for centuries. Many designs have been around for a long time. This ball is a classic design.
It is a stylized chrysanthemum flower. The pattern is called kiku. It can be done all by itself, like here, or with other patterns to make a more complicated design.
The pattern fills one half of the ball. The other side is a duplicate.
Here the middle of the ball, or obi, has gathers of the threads held in place with bands of metallic threads.
The ball is 33 cm in circumference and is stitched with #5 Perle Cotton.
Can I simply just say what a relief to uncover someone that truly understands what theyre talking about online. You certainly realize how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people have to check this out and understand this side of your story. I was surprised you arent more popular given that you definitely have the gift.
