Inktober is a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it. I am behind on my postings, but right up to date on my drawings. Today’s post contains the drawing for the 17th as well as the 18th.
I decided to do child portraits for this years Inktober. One thing I have learnt from this is that portrait ink drawings are much more difficult than landscape ink drawings. Last year I did a few landscapes and was satisfied with how they developed. (See Inktober 20th, Inktober 24th, or Inktober 30th.) I expected that drawing the face would be the difficult part, but it turns out to be the shading and modelling done with lines that give me the most problem. I obviously could stand for some formal instruction in ink drawing.
The boy in the picture for the 17th has long curly hair that looks like it hasn’t been brushed in a while. He also has a definite frown.

Today’s drawing, the 18th, is a girl in a hoody. I am almost happy with this one, but I can see so many mistakes! It is almost impossible to correct mistakes in ink.

Thanks again.
