Big Eyes

Big Eyes

Inktober is a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it. I decided to do child portraits, at least until I get tired of them.

Today’s drawing is of a little girl with big eyes. She seems a bit timid.

This one was inspired by a photo by Zahra Amiri on Unsplash.

Temari Ball

Temari are a Japanese handcraft that has been around for hundreds of years. They are embroidered thread balls  traditionally stitched with geometrically based patterns.

I have been working on a temari ball for a while and finally got it finished. It was meant to be a Halloween ball. This is because I had some lovely orange cotton with a metallic thread in it. I matched it with black and found a pattern that I thought would show the contrasting colours off well. Unfortunately the picture doesn’t show the metallic touched thread and the orange colour is not as intense as it really is.

This ball is stitched with Perle Cotton #5 weight thread and measures 31.5 cm around.
