inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it.
Reading in bed! One of life’s great pleasures! I did this all through my childhood and much of my adulthood. Lately I have stopped reading in bed. Too many nights of lost sleep because I couldn’t put the book down! Makes the next day particularly unpleasant.
The reference for this drawing was a photo by Annie Spratt found on Unsplash. The inspiration to go looking for a photo reference was the warmth of my memories of reading as a child.
Quilt
This is a patchwork quilt sewn during a Mystery Quilt-along with Bonnie K. Hunter at quiltville.com. Her patterns are wonderful but use very small pieces. This quilt had over 4,000 pieces in it and measures 73×73 inches.
The design is called Good Fortune.
Right now this is only a quilt top. It hasn’t been quilted yet. It is what is called a UFO – an UnFinished Object. I have six UFOs waiting to be quilted. Putting together the quilt sandwich is my least favourite part of making quilts. The sandwich is the three layers of a finished quilt: the backing, the batting, and the quilt top. Putting them together means moving all the furniture in my quilting room so I can put two work tables together to stretch the layers out on.
If I don’t have a deadline for a quilt it just doesn’t happen.
