I just finished putting the layers of a quilt together. Since it is a queen sized quilt this involved moving my livingroom furniture to one side so I could put my two work tables beside each other. Even then there was not enough surface to spread the quilt out completely. I had to stick the layers together in four sections.
There are three layers to a quilt – the quilt top, the batting in the middle, and the backing. In order to sew these layers together you have to stabilize them so they will not slide out of position. Some people baste them, some use safety pins and pin them, I use spray glue to stick the layers together.
So here is the quilt that I stuck together last evening. The pattern is called Winter Blues by Bonnie K. Hunter. There is over 5,000 little pieces of material in the top! I changed the colour scheme from blues and whites to browns, blacks, whites and creams, with a touch of red to brighten it.
Here is a close up of the pieced braided border the pattern calls for. Also a close up of the two blocks that make up the main pattern.
It has taken me months to get this far and I still have to quilt the whole thing.
Fall Landscape
I call this painting The Jogger.
The painting was done with acrylics on stretched canvas. It measures 24×18 inches. It is a combination of ideas from four different photos and paintings and my own imagination.
Egg-Shaped Temari Ball
Not all temari are round, some are egg-shaped. I showed an example of a big one in my post Inktober 20th. Here is a little one, just 20 cm around at its widest point. This temari has a rattle in it. The center of the egg is hollow and there is a button in there, so the egg rattles when you shake it. Many temari have rattles in them, but I seldom put one in.
You are truly a very accomplished artist. You are amazing at everything you touch.
