inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it.
This drawing is of my Grandfather. This was done from a photo taken of him when he was in his nineties.
The drawing is not a complete success. the mouth got too dark.
I think that I shall try to paint this portrait. It will be a companion piece to the portrait of my Grandmother, his wife, that I posted earlier.
Painting
This was done a few years ago. I don’t remember who did the photo I used as reference but I did find it on Unsplash.
Fall leaves always make for an attractive landscape. This is my favourite time of year. Up north it was particularly pleasant. Not only was the colour show magnificent but the first touch of frost meant no mosquitoes and black flies! The bush was never more beautiful!
Rose Temari
I posted a start on a new temari early in the month. This is that temari, finally finished today.
The geometric design in the center is a traditional motif called a rose. There are four roses around the ball. I surrounded each rose with vines, leaves, and buds done in free-form embroidery. Working on this every evening means that I haven’t been working on the quilts that need to be done before December. I will get back to them now.
