inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it.
Mother and infant, a classic theme and a sweet image.
The drawing is from a photo by Janko Ferlič on Unsplash. It is the most challenging image I have tried yet. There were two hands to draw!
This brings back more pleasant memories. The years when my children were infants and toddlers were good years. I enjoyed everything about it – the night feedings, diapers, the terrible twos and all.
Only four more days in October. Only four more inktober drawings to post.
Painting
This acrylic painting is 18×14 inches. It is an early work of mine. I like it because of the reflections and the fish in the pond. It is good to look back and think how you would do it differently now. That is an indication that you have developed over time. It is something you can do with your life as well as your art. Hopefully, I am wiser than I was and more skilled.
Temari Ball
Today’s ball is divided into four triangular sections with a different medallion in each section.
This ball is 30.5 cm around. The sections are separated by borders of white and gold thread and sprays of gold thread.
The medallions are from my own designs, the stitches used are all traditional ones. I don’t often choose a white background.
In the photos of this ball you can see that each triangular section is divided into six by gold thread. These are the marking lines that the medallions are built on. The marking lines can be left on and become part of the overall design, which is why I used gold thread. You can also remove the lines after the design is complete and then the patterns float unanchored on the ball.
