inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it.
I call this drawing Glacier Bay. I wanted to see if I could ink mountains in such a way that the distances were captured. It could be better but I am not altogether disappointed.
The reference for this drawing was a photo by John Cobb that I found on Unsplash.
One more day left in inktober. I haven’t decided what I am going to draw for the last day yet. Maybe something Hallowe’en themed. It has never been hard to find something that interests me to draw, thanks to Unsplash.
Temari Ball
A more traditional design, this ball is divided into six faces or sides. The same layered kiku motif is on each face. The stitches are traditional but the layered combination is my own devising.
The ball is 34 cm around.
Several of my balls have been inspired by looking at pictures of Ukrainian decorated eggs called pysanky. The geometric designs on the eggs lend themselves to conversion to stitches on a ball. This arrangement of kiku stitches was one such inspiration.
Painting
This painting was done several months ago. It is a copy, but I cannot remember who painted the original. If anyone out there recognizes it could you please identify it in a comment so I can add the information to this post?
My version of this painting is done in acrylics on stretched canvas and measures 11×14 inches.
