Inktober 31st

inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it.

This is the last day for inktober. I made it. I intend to continue posting my art, but not every day – twice a week instead, on Tuesdays and Fridays. I hope to be able to show more art quilts as I learn how to make them. New paintings, quilts, and balls will be shown as they are finished. As well I will post some of my work from the past. Please feel free to scroll down to the bottom and leave comments if you want.

The last drawing in inktober, a striped cat and a jack-o-lantern on a fence.

The reference for the cat was a photo by Zane Lee from Unsplash.

Well this one sure isn’t the best end to the month. The pumpkin got too dark. I should of redid it, but I simply ran out of steam. It has been a long month.

I have been more disciplined in my work than I usually am. With the necessity of posting every day I have been spending at least three hours daily drawing, photographing, processing, and writing. However it has been fun. I would do it again.

Painting

In deference to the holiday today the painting I am posting is a small study of my black cat. We call her Mystic.

Done in acrylic on stretched canvas, it is 10×8 inches.

Temari Ball

This ball is a relatively complex pattern of layered and woven bands that form a series of interlocking stars. It is divided into 12 faces with a star in each face. For this pattern the marking lines are removed after the design is complete. The stars stand alone on the ball without the lines, which in this case distract from the pattern.

The ball is 31 cm around.
