This is the third day of Inktober and my third ink drawing. As well this page includes one of my landscapes and a quilted cushion.
Ink Drawing
I am finding it much harder to work in only black lines than painting in colour. There’s a lot of room for improvement.
This drawing is a pile of books on my table. I like to read while I eat. There is great pleasure in a book and a cup of tea.
I am not sure that I am getting the hang of drawing with ink. I do the initial drawing with pencil, establishing the shapes. Then I go over the lines in ink and start adding the shading. The marks are permanent and errors are hard to correct. You can go darker but you can’t go lighter.
I will continue to spend time on YouTube watching how-to videos on ink drawing.
Painting
Here is one of my latest landscape paintings. I work in acrylics. It is a memory from my time living up north in the bush. We would walk through a bush path to the beach on the river just below our house. The swimming was wonderful.
Quilting
This is a quilted cushion I made as a present. It is my own design. The flowers and vase are raw-edged appliqued and stitched around with a satin stitch in variegated thread. The quilting was done on my domestic machine.
