Inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing every day in October and post it.
I am still learning how to do ink drawings and I am having some trouble getting the effects that I want.
I wanted to draw my cat but she is black and I couldn’t get enough tonal differences. This cat is from a photo by Zoë Gayah Jonker that I found on Unsplash.
The hardest part of drawing with ink is that it is very difficult to correct things that don’t look like you would like them to look. With oil and acrylic paint you paint over the error. With pencil you use an eraser. With ink you may have to accept the error or start over again.
Painting
This is a portrait I did of my Grandmother. She is long gone now, but remains a warm memory for me.
I really like doing portraits. It is one of my favourite topics.
