Inktober: a challenge to create an ink drawing each day in October and post it.
I have been working on ink drawings for just over a week now. When I started I had never worked in ink before. I was also going to use watercolors and learn how to do that too. After the first drawing I realized that one new thing at a time was a better idea.
Today’s drawing is a bluejay just out of the bird bath, feathers still out of order. I have always liked these birds – their beautiful colour and their raucous voices ringing through the bush. This bird is from a photo by Timothy Kindrachuk that I found on Unsplash.
Temari Balls
These three temari are recently made. The upper and left ones use the same stitch, called kiku, but have very different results because of the change in colours and the method of combining the stitches. On the upper ball the rounds of kiku stitches are layered and on the left ball they are woven.
The ball on the right uses the flax leaf design, asanoha kagari, in white thread, separated by woven bands.
