Iris Painting

Iris Painting

Today I finally got a negative test result – I am Covid free after ten days of isolation! I am really thankful that the symptoms were much more mild than they could of been.

I finished the painting that I started last week, Purple Dancers. The irises were not as easy to capture as I thought they would be. The painting took more time to finish than I had planned on in part because I spent so many days in bed sick. Now I look at the picture and still think ‘I should fix that, and that!’

Purple Dancers is acrylic on stretched canvas, 11×14 inches.

Antique and Vintage Quilts

I would like to take another look at the quilts in the collection of the Lynde House Museum and the Whitby Historical Society. This quilt is an embroidered quilt. Each block holds a picture of a basket of flowers and birds, carefully rendered with needle and thread.  It was in the 1920’s that these started to appear, as methods were found to make all colours of cotton embroidery floss colourfast.
