Poinsettia Painting

Poinsettia Painting

Originally from Central America, poinsettia plants have become traditional around Christmas. Contrary to common belief the plant is not poisonous to people or animals. However some people can have an allergic reaction to it and if eaten your digestive system may be upset.

This painting was done last January. My Christmas poinsettia lasted over two months.

This was done in acrylic on stretched canvas and the size was 24×18 inches.

Quilt

The pattern for this quilt is Shimmering Triangles by Jenny Bowker. I reduced the number of rows to make a lap quilt instead of the queen bed size. If you are interested you can find the pattern here.

Like most of the quilts I still have this one is just the top. Seems that as soon as I finish one it leaves home. This quilt top was done in batiks.

I am currently working on actually finishing two quilts and have one more and two quilted table runners in the planning stages. As well I have a temari ball under construction and two paintings I am working on. It looks like I am going to be very busy for the next month or two.

Temari Ball

I have just finished this ball. It is divided into 12 faces and the stars, or flowers, on each face interlock at the outer points of the star.

This ball was marked with gold and stitched with Perle cotton #5 in white and four shades, pink to red. The ball measures 31 cm around.

The three dimensional effect of using multiple shades of the same colour like this is very pleasing to me so I try to use this method of colour selection often.
