The Windowsill is acrylic on paper. It measures 14×11 inches.
The flowers in the glass jar are bleeding hearts. In the language of flowers they represent passionate love and romance. But in many cultures they are considered to be a symbol of sadness, unrequited love and a broken heart. Here they sit in front of a window that shows a blurred and indecipherable outlook. Perhaps the book is a journal used to document the pain of a lost love.
Quilting
I have two projects I am working on. I am machine quilting a twin sized quilt for a Christmas present and I am working on Bonnie K. Hunter’s Mystery Quilt. This winter it is called Rhododendron Trail.
The pattern for a Mystery Quilt is given to us one section, or clue, at a time. Every Friday a new clue is posted. The complete quilt is not revealed until all the clues have been given. You don’t know what you are making until all the parts are ready to assemble!
Today we got a new clue, the second one. We are instructed to make flying geese this time. That is one in the picture to the right.
The half-square triangles from the first clue are all done. They are in the picture to the left. I am all set to go on to the second clue. However, before I can dive into those flying geese I need to get much more done on the gift quilt.
Friends and Family Temari Ball
Today’s ball is a simple one, with woven squares on a six face marking. I call it Friends and Family because it represents the strength that can be found in the interlocking lives of family and friends.
The division guide lines were done in metallic gold cord and the rest is DMC Perle cotton #5. The ball is 26 cm around.
